Monday Mantra

Today is a day unlike any other!

I love this quote. I tell my co-workers this pretty much daily. Some even secretly like it…I’m pretty sure…

I found this quote on the internet years ago and immediately adopted it as a personal mantra. I found a video, which is now lost in the black hole that is the internet, about this women in her 90s. A relative was capturing her secrets to a long and happy life. Her name was Ruth. She was a stylish lady. Classic, like Audrey Hepburn. She talked about keeping limber by doing her stretches every morning. And attributed her good spirits to starting every day by saying, “Ruth! Today is a day unlike any other! Today is the day that God made!”

It was her refined appearance combine with her enthusiastic proclamation that really got me. If someone in their 90s can take on the day with that kind of appreciation and excitement, what kind of life was I living if I didn’t try to do the same?

As silly as it might feel, take a moment to consider the truth. More than likely, you’ve had days where at the end, you recounted it’s crazy events and thought, “I can’t believe that happened!” Or at least thought about how much you did (or did not) accomplish. What if you reversed that thought and started the day on a positive note?

A brand new day gives so much possibility. And as tough as a Monday can be, I challenge you to use this opportunity to start something new. It may be a big “something” like planning a trip or starting a workout plan, or a smaller “something” like finding your own personal positive mindset. Whatever it is, there is no better day than today, because today is a day unlike any other.
